Alene Slusher, 87, of Wallins, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Saint Joseph Hospital in London with her family by her side. She was born on March 29, 1938 in Dayhoit, KY, to the late Leonard and Sarah Sizemore Belcher. Alene had worked for the Harlan County Board of Education for over 30 years as a Teacher's Aid and was a member of the Kentenia Full Gospel Church.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Slusher; one daughter, Judy Lavanne; three brothers, Almer, Rodney, and Arnold Belcher; and one sister, Lillian Belcher Slusher.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two children, Kathy Hendricks and husband, Robert, of Shepherdsville, KY; Debra Slusher Brock of Wallin: one brother, Wiley Belcher of Wallins; six grandchildren, David Alton Haynie II, Jennifer Renee Dinger Haynie, Jonathan Robert Hendricks, Jonathan Robert Hendricks II, Stephanie Mullins Sweet and Brian Joseph Mullins

Her visitation will be in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastors Timothy Bass and Garroll Finch officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sang Branch Cemetery in Wallins.
