Obituary

Angela Marie Smith Baker transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the age of 55.  Angie was born on June 10, 1969, in Benham, Kentucky to Vadis and Mary Kathern (Cress) Smith. The only daughter of four children, Angie was a big-hearted, outgoing girl. She attended Dilce Combs High School and in 1989 married the love of her life, Tommy Baker.  They were blessed with two sons: Tommy, Jr and Eric.

Angie loved to talk and never met a stranger. One of her favorite things to do was to go 'pickin', a term which referred to going to every flea market she could, pick through everything, and bring her treasures home to resell, although quite a few items never left her home. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. People far and wide called to purchase loaves of her banana-nut bread as well as her apple pies, all of which were made from scratch.

Family meant everything to Angie. She was always a hands-on involved mother who never stopped moving: cleaning, cooking, serving her family, neighbors, church. Her granddaughter, Caroline, was the apple of her eye. Anything Caroline needed/wanted, 'Mamaw' saw to it that Caroline got it. She loved her family more than anything!

Angie was a baptized believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her faith was very important to her. She loved her Lord, she loved her church – Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church, and the people who made up the church. A long time Sunday School teacher and VBS worker, Angie took great pleasure in working with the children who came through the church doors. Her big heart, wonderful personality, and smile that could light up a room will be missed by so many.

Visitation for Angie will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church in Delphia, KY, from 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 23, at 11:00am at the church with Pastor Eddie Williams officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her mother at the Smith Family Cemetery in Delphia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
