Anita Ball, 93, of Keokee, VA, formerly of Harlan County, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home in Duffield, VA.  Anita was born on January 21, 1929 in Highsplint, Kentucky.  She formerly worked in the Deli at Krogers.  She enjoyed studying genealogy and also had published articles about it, as well as publishing a book of poetry that she wrote for her grandparents, Sally Ann Pace and Dan Kelly, titled "The Kelly's of Kentucky".  She believed in the Church of God faith.

Anita is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Pendergrass; a son, Larry Pendergrass; her mother, Iva Jane Kelly; her father, John Ball; two grandchildren, Julio Huff Pendergrass and Stacy McGreal; and four sisters, June, Mary, Myrtle and Doris Ball.

Survivors include a son, Michael Pendergrass, Keokee, VA; a daughter, Terri Fortner, Kingsport, TN; a sister, Wanda Pilgrim, Florida; eight grandchildren, Bambi Pendergrass, Nikeshia Pendergrass Bolling, Mickey Pendergrass, Ricky McGreal, Larry Jr. Huff Pendergrass, Jessie Dale Fortner, Lisa Ann Fortner and Tina Balthis; seven great-grandchildren, Baylee Butina, Noah and Lauren Bolling, Rahni and Paul Huff, Kelsey Futch and Tiara Smith; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Brother Bill McDonald officiating.  Please meet at the Evarts Funeral Home at 12:30 to go to the cemetery as a funeral procession.
