Aster Smith, age 87, of Linefork, KY passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Tri-Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Delphia, KY on February 12, 1937 to the late Henry and Clarinda Griffey Smith. He worked as a coal miner for Scotia Mine and then worked several different jobs. Aster had a very kind heart and soul, helping anyone he possibly could. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Every year when his health would allow, he would grow a large garden full of vegetables and flowers.  He also enjoyed working on cars.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla Halcomb Smith; a son, James Dudley Smith; siblings, Marlyn, Vasel, Vadis (Bige), Mable, Howard, Jarret, Arthur, Mason, Della, and Elvis, and a great-grandson, Dominick.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Shelia Breeding and husband, Lance, of Premium, KY; Stanley Halcomb and wife, Brenda, of Stanford, KY; brother, Garland Smith; sister, Cassie Shepherd; seven grandchildren, Dustin Halcomb (Kayla), Jeremy Halcomb (Lauren), Laura Sword (Daniel), Debbie Walker (Brandon), Donald S Walker (Tammy), Jenna Colon (Chino) and Amber Cornett (Tyler); 21 great-grandchildren, Lilah, Olivia (Colby), Macauley, Cobe, Lainey, Shannon Ray, Journey (Jacob), Logan, Dalen, Emmalynn, Julianna, Ashley, JR, Rhyland, Makayla, Chipper Mae, Liam James, Adelyn, Bradley, Brooklyn, and Myla; one great-great-grandchild, Korali, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

His visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the Tri City Funeral Home. His funeral service will be Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 1 PM in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Halcomb Family Cemetery on Linefork with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
