Barry Lynn
Carmical, Sr.
Apr 9, 1950 — Apr 14, 2025
Coldiron
Barry Lynn Carmical, Sr., 75, of Coldiron went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 14, 2025, at his residence following a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 9, 1950 in Harlan County. Barry was a member of the Coldiron Church of God Mountain Assembly, where he played bass guitar. He was a member of the Wallins Masonic Lodge since 1978. He was retired from Arch Coal Company and was a lifetime member of the U.M.W.A. Barry spent a lot of time fishing and was known for his love of it.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed talking and laughing with people and we would say he never went anywhere without knowing someone.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carmical and Cora Mae Donahue Carmical; three brothers, David Allen Carmical, Bobby Carmical and John D. Carmical; two sisters, Deborah Carmical and Lois Williams; and longtime friends, Jim Stephens and Robert Howard.
Barry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy North Carmical, Coldiron; three children, Barry Carmical, Jr. and wife, Brandi, Hazard; Wendy Carmical Jackson and husband, Rick, Corbin; and Amanda Carmical Carmony, Coldiron; seven brothers, Jimmy Carmical and wife, Faye, St. Anne, Illinois; Don Carmical and wife, Lana, Fred Carmical, Jack Carmical and wife, Nona, all of Coldiron; Ross Carmical and wife, Brenda, Tennessee; Richard Carmical and Gary Carmical, both of Harlan; and two sisters, Joan Shultz and Barb Saylor, both of Coldiron. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kaylee Major, Jalen Major, Jon Ryan Carmical, Jonas Jackson, Cassie Mae Jackson, Addison Carmical, Paisley Carmical; one soon to be great-grandson; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family; and special friends, E. V. Daniels and Delbert Stephens.
Special thanks to the Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Franklin Stewart officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Masonic Last Rites will be performed at the cemetery.
