Benny
Meade
Jan 24, 1951 — Aug 22, 2024
Maysville
Mr. Benjamin 'Benny' Harold Meade, 73 years of age, of Maysville, Kentucky, formerly of Wallins, gained his heavenly reward and entered the gates of heaven in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 22, 2024, to begin his eternity with his Savior. Benny was at his home in Maysville surrounded by his loving family when he made his transition from his earthly home to his heavenly home.
Benny was born on January 24, 1951, to Samuel and Alice (Smith) Meade in Richlands, Virginia. He had seven beloved siblings: three sisters: Jenny, who was his twin sister, Peggy, and Lola; and four brothers: J.D., Ronnie, Roger, and Steve.
At the age of eight, Benny's family moved from Virginia to Harlan, KY. He grew up in Wallins and graduated from James A. Cawood High School in 1970. He immediately entered the workforce and eventually landed a job at Doc Herren Electric, where he worked for thirteen years doing electric motor repairs. In August of 1971, Benny married the love of his life and best friend, Judy Looper. Benny and Judy left a legacy of a fifty-three year marriage of faithful love and service to one another. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Melinda and Kimberly, who were their parents' pride and joy.
Benny, a born-again Christian since the early 1980s, loved music and was gifted at playing the guitar. During their thirty years living in Harlan, Benny and Judy were members of the Wallins Church of God, where he would frequently play his guitar at church, joining his brothers, nephew, and friends. Benny loved to worship his Savior! In 1989, he and Judy moved to Maysville, KY, and quickly found a new church home and community at Revive Pentecostal Church of Maysville. His faith was a very important part of his life and that was evident in the way he lived. Being a good husband, father, and provider took top priorities in Benny's life.
In Maysville, Benny was offered a position as an electrical engineer with Welco Technology, where he worked for twenty-two years, until he retired in 2011. After retirement, he enjoyed tinkering on lawn mowers and working in his garage. When computer technology made its appearance, Benny taught himself the ins and outs of working a computer and navigating the internet.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Alice Meade; sister, Lola Madagan; brother, Roger Meade; fathers-in-law: Doug Simpson and James Looper; step-mother-in-law, Irene Looper; brothers-in-law, Donnie Looper andPaul Whitehead; nephew, Greg Whitehead.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted, loving wife of 53 years, Judy Looper Meade of Maysville, KY; two daughters: Melinda Brock and husband, Sam, of Molus, KY, and Kimberly Meade and boyfriend, Anthony Rhoden, of Grayson, KY; four grandchildren: Kayla (Josh) Burriss, Hanna (Ryan) Branham, Brandon (Daelyna) Cooley, and Matthew Justen-Brock; six great-grandchildren: Jaelyn Burriss, Ryleigh Burriss, Hayden Burriss, Kaisyn Burriss, Briella Justen-Brock, and Paityn Raine Branham (due in November); two sisters: Jenny Meade Whitehead of Maysville, KY, and Peggy (Mark) Brackett of Baxter, KY; three brothers: J.D. (Lee) Meade of Corbin, KY, Ronnie (Sandy) Meade of Spring Hill, TN; Steve (Kay) Meade of Wallins, KY; mother-in-law, Geneva Simpson; brother-in-law, Charles Madagan of Middletown, VA; sisters-in-law, Loretta (Don) Duncan of White Pine, TN, Anna (Husky) Turner of Bledsoe, KY, Nola Looper of Bay City, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members; as well as many dear friends.
