Betty Jo Pope Danniels, 86, of Harlan, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on June 29, 1937 to the late Bill and Patsy Mullins Pope. In 1952 Betty met the love of her life, Donnie Buell Danniels, and she knew then that she would spend the rest of her life loving him and no other. Donnie would walk from Nolansburg to Putney just to see Betty Jo every day. After dating for a couple of years, Donnie finally popped the question and they were married on February 6, 1956. Together they moved to Michigan for several years and had two children. Betty Jo was a homemaker, she loved cooking, planting and raising flower and reading a good book. She believed in the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, Bill and Patsy Pope, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Buell Danniels; and a sister, Billie Sue Doss.

Survivors include two sons, David Micheal Danniels and Christopher Don Danniels; one sister, Linda McGirt; three grandchildren, Shawna Danniels, Lacy Stiltener and Zachary Danniels; and two great-grandchildren, Sebastian Danniels and Matthew Moore.

Honoring Betty's wishes, a graveside service will be conducted Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Lewis Cemetery in Putney with the Reverend Dennis Williams officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
