Betty King Day, 76, of Kenvir, departed this life on Monday, September 18, 2023, at her home. Born November 24, 1946 in Harlan County, she had lived here most of her life. Betty was employed by the Harlan County Board of Education as a secretary for both the Evarts High School and the Black Mountain Elementary School before her retirement. She was an avid reader and loved working the Evarts High School football games and the Evarts High School Alumni Reunions each Labor Day.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Noah King and Ella Blevins King; a daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Day Blackburn; one grandchild, Cody James Blackburn; three brothers, William Woodrow King, David King and Bobby Jack King; and two sisters, Emma Lou Massenburg and Dorothy King Holmes.

Survivors include two children, Bobby Day and wife, Hope, Kenvir; and Donna Day, Ewing, VA; four brothers, Tom King, Springfield, TN; Sam King and wife, Debbie, Springfield, TN; Billy Joe King, Kenvir; and Noah King, Kenvir; five grandchildren, Claudia Brooke White, Ashley White Parks (Tyler); Christopher Ball, Bethany Long (Jared); and Noah Tony Day; and three great-grandchildren, Jagger and Gabriella Long and Zoey Parks. Also surviving are special caregivers, Missy Couch and Debbie Wynn; the Staff of Hospice of the Bluegrass; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Moore officiating.

Her burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
