Betty Lou Fields Smith, age 75, of Cumberland passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at her home after a short illness. She was born in Benham on July 13, 1950, to the late Henry and Arlene Day Fields. She worked in the lunchroom at Cumberland High School for many years.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Pennington and Ola Mae Yates, and a nephew, Jeffery Pennington.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 58 years, Curtis Smith of Cumberland; a sister, Barbara Fields and husband, Danny, of Cumberland; a special great-niece that she loved like a daughter, Taylor Pennington of Cumberland; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Her visitation will be Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Tri City Funeral Home from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 1 pm at the Tri City Funeral Home with Billy Boggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Peaceful Acres Cemetery at Hiram with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
