Billie Joyce Burnette Brock, 80, of Holmes Mill passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, following a brief illness.  Born August 21, 1944 in Bonny Blue, Virginia, she had lived here most of her life.  Billie was a caregiver and a member of the Cloverfork Missionary Baptist Church.  She loved all animals but especially enjoyed watching birds and squirrels.  She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them.  Anyone that knew her knew that Billie was very upfront and honest in her opinions, and they loved her for it.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer James "Gene" Brock; her parents, Oakley Burnette and Bonnie Mae Blevins Burnette; a sister, Brenda Kay Burnette; and two brothers, Oakley Woodrow Burnette, Jr. and James Bernard Burnette.

Survivors include two sisters, Willie Mae Burnette, Harlan; Mary Wilder and husband, Bill, Jonesville, VA; six step-children, Ruth Perkins and husband, Joe; Nancy Stanton and husband, Robert; Nannie Huff and husband, Arles, all of Holmes Mill; Glen Brock and wife, Betty, Wise, VA; Shirley Madison and husband, Terry, Harlan; and Norma Price and husband, Bill, Lexington.  Also surviving are a host of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 1 pm at the Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with the Reverend Mike Blair officiating.
