It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that the Johnson family announce the passing of our precious sister Brenda Johnson Childers Hale. She died at a Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard KY on August 18, 2026.

Since March, she has fought a hard battle with stage 4 lung and brain cancer. Brenda believed in the Pentecostal faith.

Brenda lived in London, KY where she worked for over 20 years in the London area for Pilot and Shell gas stations. During her working career, she made many friends with her customers. Lots of people came just to see and talk with her. Brenda had a funny and witty personality. If you ever met her, you wouldn't forget her.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, James "Preacher" and Juanita Combs Johnson; brothers, Jimmy and Timothy Johnson; her sweet sister, Donna Kay Johnson; and two husbands, Bob Childers and Freddy Hale. Also, two baby sons that died at birth.

Brenda is survived by her brother, Daniel (Betty) Johnson; and three sisters, Sharon (Bobby) Irvin, Sandra Hill and Kim (Raymond) Smith; three daughters, Robin, Candace and Delena; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Since April, Brenda has been living with her brother, Daniel, and her sister-in-law Betty. They have taken excellent care of her, taking her to all of her doctor's appointments and tending to her every need.  We cannot express enough gratitude for everything they have done. They have always stepped up to care for the sick ones in our family.

Brenda will be forever in our hearts, she was loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure, she will always be with us until we meet again in Heaven.

Visitation will be at the Tri City Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11 am until 1 pm. Her funeral service will be at 1 pm with the Reverend Michael Blair officiating. Interment will follow at the Jacob Creech Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
