Brenda Lou Sharp Rigney, 77, of Ages went to her heavenly home on Friday, May 31, 2024, following a brief illness.  Brenda was born on November 22, 1946 in Harlan County and had lived here most of her life.  She was a faithful member of the Ages Holiness Church where she was very actively involved.  She loved the Lord and loved to share her love by helping to take care of people.  She prayed faithfully from 11 am until 12 noon every Monday through Friday.  Brenda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved them dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Ray "Pete" Rigney, Sr.; her parents, Autrey Sharp and Lucille Lawson Sharp; two sons, Lonnie Rigney, Jr. and Terry "Scrap" Rigney; a grandson, Tyler Andrew Swedersky; and a sister, Wanda Pate.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Swedersky and husband, Mike, Pineville; a sister, Patricia Fullington and husband, Steve, London; and two brothers, Delbert Sharp and wife, Cynthia, Seattle, WA and Charles Sharp, Dayton, OH.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, Michael Ray Rigney of Harlan; Jessie Rigney and wife, Charity, of Evarts; Michael Shawn Swedersky of Pikeville; Savannah Swedersky and Matthew Swedersky, both of Pineville; three great-granddaughters, Jessalyn, Brooklyn and Gracelyn Rigney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Preston and Wanda Brock for all of their amazing help with Brenda.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 1 pm at the Ages Free Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Reverend Jesse Kinder and the Reverend Lee Caldwell officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with her family and friends serving as pallbearers.
