Mr. Ronald Eugene Bunch, better known as 'Bud', of Pathfork, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 27, 2024, with his family by his side. He was eighty-seven years old.

Bud was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on March 25, 1937. His family moved to Bell County and Bud grew up in the Hulen community.  His parents were Otis and Helen (Kindred) Stanaford. He graduated from Black Star High School and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. After serving several years in the Marines, Bud married the true love of his life, Vina Elizabeth Lee. They were blessed with 61 years together and two daughters, Lena and Helen. Bud and Vina, along with their daughter ran the family business, Stanaford's Grocery, in Pathfork, for over 46 years.

Bud was a man who always looked for opportunities to help others. If there was a need, he tried his best to fill that need both for individuals and local churches. He truly enjoyed being in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky and did so any time he was able. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially sharing family dinners. Any time spent with family was time well spent for Bud.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vina Bunch; his parents: Otis and Helen Stanaford, a daughter, Helen Bunch Fulp; a brother, Arthur Bunch; a son-in-law, Douglas Helton; and his father and mother-in-law, Levi and Rosa Lee.

Among those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Lena R. Helton, of Pathfork; a brother, Lloyd (Patsy) Bunch of Lexington; two grandchildren: Damian (Katherine) Helton and Courtney (Tim) Griffin all of Pathfork; four great-grandchildren: Ronald and Aleena Goshen and Tatten and Madison Rice, also of Pathfork; a host of extended relatives, as well as many dear friends.

Visitation for Bud will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 12:00-3:00pm in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home. Military Rites, presented by the Harlan Honor Guard, will follow the visitation.
