Charles "Chuck" North, AKA Hillbilly, 73, of Cumberland passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born in Cumberland on June 19, 1952 to the late Luther and Bessie Creech North. He loved the outdoors, riding motorcycles, and spending time wheeling and dealing-always trading and swapping something. He was proud to be a truck driver and had a good heart that showed in the way he treated others.  His favorite saying was that "He was the prettiest of Bessie's boys".

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Birchfield North; and three sisters, Sandra "Judy" Hansel, Belinda May, and Debra Hartman.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Tammy Huff and husband, Eldon, of Harlan; Ian North of Morehead; Lee North of Cincinnati, OH; Kristina Birchfield of Paintsville; two special nieces, Jessica and Rachel North; a special aunt, Mary North; two brothers, Johnny North and wife, Donna, of Benham; Jeff North and wife Melissa, of Big Laurel; two sisters, Onilee Creech and husband, Darrell, of Benham; Kim North of Mason, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Tri City Funeral Home from 11 am until the funeral hour. His funeral will be at 1 pm with Jeff North, Johnny North, and Dillard Stanley officiating. Military honors will be performed at the funeral home by the Harlan Honor Guard.
