Mr. Charles Ray Fields, eighty years of age, formerly of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed from this life on Monday, August 26, 2024, while at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice facility in Ft. Mitchell, KY.

Charles was born on January 21, 1944, in Benham, Kentucky to Willie and Thelma Morris Fields. He grew up in Hiram and after school, became a truck driver for a local coal mining company.  In the late 1950s, Charles married his sweetheart, Susan Ann Austin and they were blessed with a son, Shane, who completed their family.  After many years driving a coal truck, Charles retired but soon found retirement wasn't for him so he decided to return to driving. Years later he would retire a second time and after his wife passed, Charles moved to Crittenden to be with his son and family. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he was given with his granddaughters.  Charles was a friendly, easy-going gentleman who never met a stranger. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Susan Ann Austin Fields; his parents, Willie and Thelma Fields; and his only sibling, brother, Robert Lee Fields.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Shane Fields and wife, Brittany, of Crittenden, KY; two granddaughters, Lyla and Zoey Fields; a host of extended relatives and many friends.

There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY at 10:00am. Reverend Rod Raleigh will be officiating. Charles will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Susan, in the Sandhill Cemetery, Cumberland, KY.
