Clarence Bradford Howard, Jr., 78, of Rio Vista, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the U.K. Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1947 in Harlan County to the late Clarence Bradford Howard, Sr. and June Lyttle Howard. He received his Bachelor Degree in Education from E.K.U. where he served in the R.O.T.C. then he taught in Phillipsburg, New Jersey for many years. While in New Jersey, he was a 33rd Degree Mason in Lodge #365 as well as a Shriner. Clarence was a member of the Loyall First Baptist Church.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cynthia Hartwick Howard, Rio Vista; four children, Kevin Howard, Poland; Heather Lyttle, Kingsport; Christopher Hartwick, Kansas; and Stephanie Hartwick, Maryland; one sister, Carol Howard, Loyall; and two grandchildren, Coner Howard and Victoria Adams. Also surviving is a host of cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Loyall First Baptist Church with a memorial service starting at 6 p.m. with the Reverend Eric Greene officiating.
