Clifton Kelly, 57, of Closplint departed this life on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his home.  Born March 28, 1968, he was a lifelong resident of Harlan County.  Clifton was a retired coal miner having worked at Manalapan and Black Mountain Resources.  He was a member of the Huff Settlement Baptist Church where he loved to attend.  He enjoyed spending time with his dogs that he loved dearly and also enjoyed gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Kelly and Elizabeth Fields Kelly; a sister, Arbutus Caudill; and a brother, James Kelly.

Survivors include his twin brother, Carl Kelly and wife, Kim, Sadieville, KY; a brother, JB Kelly and wife, Dianne, Redbud; two sisters, Arvilla Osborne and husband, Johnny, Shorttown; Ruth Kelly, Jonesville, VA; a special friend that was like a daughter to him and helped care for him, Jessica Middleton; and a host of other family and friends.

His visitation will be Monday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 2 pm in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with Pastor Dax Taulbee officiating.

Burial will follow in the Kelly Family Cemetery on Day's Branch at Holmes Mill with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
