Obituary

Consuella Kaye Coldiron Perry, better known as 'Connie', passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Connie was born in Benham, Kentucky, to Warren L (Buck) and Betty Jo Melton Coldiron on November 7, 1949. She was a lifelong resident of Cumberland and graduated from Cumberland High School in 1967. Following her graduation from Southeast Community College two years later, Connie married James 'Jim' Perry in 1971.  She began working at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital as a Nursing Service Clerk, where she worked for twenty years.

When Connie and Jim's son, Jay, passed away unexpectedly in 2015, they began caring for Jay's daughters, Lexi and Madi. Their granddaughters brought new joy into their home. Connie and Jim devoted their lives to raising, loving, and spoiling the girls.

Connie was a talented artist and spent many hours drawing. She enjoyed cross-stitching, weaving afghans, crocheting, and working with ceramics, as well as working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Cumberland. She was a life time member of Bell County VFW Auxiliary 11139 of Middlesboro Kentucky.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, 'Buck' and Betty Jo Coldiron; and her son, James Warren 'Jay' Perry.

Left to cherish Connie's memory is her husband, Jim Perry; two granddaughters, Alexis Leann Perry and Madison Jade Perry; two sisters, Rebecca L. Grigsby and Jacqueline Coldiron, all of Cumberland, KY; niece, Rebecca D Grigsby, Mt. Sterling, KY; nephew, Bradley R Grigsby; Lawrenceburg, KY; a host of extended family members; and many dear friends.
