Danny L. Ball, Sr., 76, of Evarts passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at his home. Danny was born on September 10, 1947 in Harlan County and had lived here all of his life.  He was a former miner and heavy equipment operator in the coal industry.  Danny loved spending time with his dogs and being around horses.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Ball and Birdie Lou Robinson Ball; his wife, Alice Chaney Ball; a grandson, Leslie Cox; and a brother, Phillip Ball.

Survivors include two children, Paula Cox, Evarts; and Danny Lee Ball, Jr. and wife, Starla, New Tazewell, TN; a sister, Laura Sue Ball Zunda and husband, William, Evarts; a brother, Paul Ball and wife, Pat, Evarts; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Sheila Ball, Evarts.  Also left to mourn his passing are his five grandchildren, Scotty Cox, Kellie (Stephen) Ray, Jacob (Kali) Ball, Kaylee Ball and Danny Lee Ball III; seven great-grandchildren, James Stephen Ray, Jr., Sapphira Tucker, Asher Cox, Ella Cox, Jax Ray, Eli Ball and Abby Ray; and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Evarts Funeral Home from 5 until 8 pm with scriptures and closing prayer by the Reverend Don Johnson.
