Harlan
David Arnold Arvin, 77, of Harlan went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY, following a courageous battle with cancer for a little more than a year. He was born on May 20, 1948 in Chevrolet, Kentucky to the late Arlie Cecil Arvin and Maggie Marie Lundy Arvin.
David was a wonderful father and grandfather, a devoted brother and a dedicated friend. He loved sports, especially golf and the Little League World Series. He loved going to the lake and fishing and instilled a love of fishing to his grandson, Dawson. If David did not know you when he first started talking to you, he would get to know you quickly and he had a knack for always remembering everyone's birthdates and significant special dates. David was a 1968 graduate of Harlan High School and was a very skilled backhoe operator having worked for over 35 years for the Bennett's at Mountain Construction and was an avid U.K. basketball fan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Kermit Arvin; and two sisters, Judy Fee and Rebecca Ann Helton.
David is survived by one daughter, April Michelle Arvin Estep and husband, David, Harlan; three brothers, Doug Arvin and wife, Pauline, Harlan; Bill Arvin and wife, Becky, Harlan; and Johnny Arvin and wife, Barb, Rosspoint; and one sister, Janice Tolliver and husband, Tony, Corbin; one grandson, Dawson Ryan Estep, Harlan; his girlfriend and companion of 20 years, Diane Skidmore, Three Point, KY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday and the inaccessibility to Resthaven Cemetery, visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home with funeral service starting at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joe Hale and Pastor Chris Wheeler officiating.
Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Harlan Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of David Arnold Arvin.
