David "Bunt" Cornett, 80, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. He was born on January 8, 1944 in Cumberland to the late Lawrence and Bernice Bowling Cornett. He was a graduate of Cumberland High School and he furthered his education by getting a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of the Cumberlands. He was the coordinator of the preschool program when it first opened in Cumberland in 1991. He was an avid UK football fan,  loved playing the guitar and played in a band, and loved watching the news and being up to date on all politics and current events. He was a character, loved playing jokes and cutting up with people.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Cornett..

David leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Mildred Rowland of Middlesboro; Darrell "Sonny" Cornett and wife, Kay, of Hiram; Doyle Pete Cornett and wife, Karen, of Baxter; Marilyn Gaines of Louisville; Donnie Cornett and wife, Valerie, of Coldiron; Delmas Cornett and wife, Kim, of Hiram; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 5 to 8 PM at the Tri City Funeral Home. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 3 PM with the Reverends Ron Oplinger and John Dixon will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Sandhill Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
