David Boone Cottrell, 75, of Wallins passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Lakebridge, A Waters Community center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Born August 6, 1950, in Wallins, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Virginia Daniel Cottrell, David worked for many years for Don and Harold Parsons as the manager of Parsons Lumber Company. He finished out his work career with Frito-Lays as a delivery truck driver and stockman. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served with the Harlan Honor Guard. He believed in the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by five brothers, Jerry Wayne Cottrell, Arthur Eugene Cottrell, Jr., Curtis Eugene Cottrell, Billy Don Cottrell and Earl Allen Cottrell; a sister, Tave Blanton; and two brothers-in-law, Eugene Blanton and Rick Osborne.

David is survived by eight children, David Boone Reynolds, David Boone Stanley, Cindy Nedrow, Jessica Cottrell Porcelli, Heather Whitaker and husband, James, David Boone Cottrell, Jr. and wife, Diane, Anna Day, Timmy Allen Cottrell and wife, Brittany; two sisters, Ella Wren and Rosetta Osborne; and his special companion, Elizabeth Jane Carmack.  Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, including Kayle (Jerry) Trent, Brody Cottrell, Lexi Cottrell, Bentley Cottrell, Addyson Sizemore, Noah Cottrell, Jaycelynn Cottrell, Donivyn Wagers and Dylan Wagers; and a host of other family and friends.

His visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2026, from 5 until 7 pm at the Kentenia Full Gospel Church with his funeral  beginning at 7 pm.  The  Reverend Jim Johnson and the Reverend Greg Abraham will officiate.

Please meet at the Church on Tuesday at 1 pm to proceed to the Southeast Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Hyden for a 2:30 pm military burial service. David, Timmy, Brody and Harvey Cottrell, David Hensley, Roy Gross and Ricky Osborne will serve as pallbearers.
