Obituary

Donald Eugene "Donnie" Blevins, of Kenvir, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on November 30, 1965, Donnie was the son of Ruby Blevins of Harlan, Kentucky, and the late Bill Blevins. Donnie was a man with a great heart who was loved by many. He was down-to-earth and truly never met a stranger. He welcomed people with open arms and had a way of making everyone feel like family. Donnie loved his family dearly and had a deep love for the mountains of Kentucky. Donnie was a man of the Baptist faith and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in South Korea from 1984 to 1987, and his service and sacrifice will always be remembered and honored. Donnie also had two very special companions in his life, his beloved dogs, Bear and Maverick. They held a special place in his heart and were an important part of his life. He will be remembered for his great heart, his love for his family, his love of the mountains, his faith, and the way he welcomed everyone he met. He truly never met a stranger. He had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, and the memories he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Bill Blevins; his brother, Timothy Adam Blevins; his niece, Liberty Blevins; his nephew, Jacob Helton; and his grandparents, Jim and Roxy Blevins and Lottie and Ivory Hembree.

Donnie is survived by his mother, Ruby Blevins of Harlan; his beloved fiancée, Rosemary Johnson of Evarts, who loved him deeply and stood beside him through everything; his son, Donald Grant, of Georgia; his brother, Bill Blevins and wife, Gracie, of Kenvir; his brother, Darrell Blevins and wife, Melissa, of Georgia; and his sister, Loretta Blevins and fiancé, Gary Alan Dean of Coldiron.

He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Donnie dearly, along with numerous family members and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and his great heart.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 12 noon until 2 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm in the chapel with Pastor John Luttrell officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The Harlan Honor Guard will perform military rites.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we can find comfort in knowing that the love Donnie gave to others will continue through all those whose lives he touched.

Evarts Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Donald Eugene "Donnie" Blevins.
