Doris Mills Coots, 66, of Lejunior, departed this life at her home on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 17, 1959 at a US Military Hospital in Italy to the late Cager Lee Mills and the late Wanda Jean Gilbert Mills, but had lived in Harlan County most of her life. Doris was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed flea markets and going to church. Doris was a member of the Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Matthew Coots; and a brother, Steve Mills.

Survivors include three children, Katina Coots and fiancé, Elroy Perkins, Shorttown; Amanda Mills, Lejunior; and Anthony Coots and fiancé, Amanda Hoskins, Dartmont; two brothers, James Mills and wife, Patty; and Roy Mills and wife, Allison, all of Georgia; and a sister, Betty Cornett, Lejunior. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Rex Rittenhouse, Riley Mills, Taylor Coots, Raiden Reece and Matthew Lee Coots; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 1 pm until the funeral hour at the Evarts Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin in the chapel at 3 pm with the Reverend Lloyd Ray Burkhart officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
