Doris McKnight Phipps, 85 of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY following a long illness. She was born in Cumberland on July 28, 1939 to the late Ira Bethel and Pearl Estep McKnight.  She was a member of the Cloverlick Freewill Baptist Church. In her free time Doris loved cooking, gardening and singing.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, David Phipps; a son, Joseph Earl Phipps; two brothers, Charles and Harold McKnight; and six sisters, Susie Gilliam, Pauline Trent, Bonnie McKnight, Billie Jean Brock, Faye McKnight, and Anna Ruth McKnight.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Chris Phipps of Cumberland; a brother Roger McKnight and wife, Brenda, of Benham; a sister, Betty Phipps of Salisbury, NC; and many special nieces and nephews.

Her visitation will be Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 1 pm with the Reverend Mike McKnight and Elder Glen Cornett officiating. Burial will follow at the Hall-Clay Cemetery in Cloverlick with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
