Duncan Eric
Jacobs
Dec 7, 1963 — Jan 15, 2025
Lexington
Duncan Eric Jacobs, age sixty-one, of Georgetown, Kentucky, formerly of Harlan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Duncan was born in Harlan on December 7, 1963, to Diana Jacobs and Philip Fluker. He attended Harlan High School where his talent for artistic painting was well-developed. Duncan was a truly gifted artist and was commissioned to paint a large Dragon image on the wall of the Harlan High School basketball gymnasium. He was also a standout athlete. He was the HHS football quarterback, basketball point guard and was the school record holder in the triple and high jump. He also was a two-time state champion in long jump in 1981 and 1982. He was a wonderful friend and teammate.
After graduating from Harlan High School in 1983, Duncan enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. A few years after being discharged, he moved to Lexington where he worked as a carpenter for Ball Construction for many years.
An extremely private, quiet man, Duncan enjoyed fishing and making things, using his creative genius. He continued drawing and painting, frequently gifting his creations to family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and could easily bring rounds of laughter to any conversation he was involved in. He believed in the Baptist faith. Duncan's absence leaves a huge void in lives of all who were privileged to know and love him.
Duncan is preceded in death by his father, Philip Fluker and nine siblings: Melissa Jacobs, Terry Jacobs, Barbara Fluker, Eunice Fluker, Tracey Fluker, Sam Fluker, William Fluker, Louis McKee, and Douglas Fluker; and his maternal grandmother, Fay Fields.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Diana Jacobs; three sisters: Dana Young (George), Paula Patton (Bennie), Donna Mason (Aaron); two brothers: Lyle Jacobs and Ray Renfro; extended siblings: Phyllis Johnson (Thomas), Billy Ray Fluker (Alberta), Winfred Fluker (Queenie); a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members; as well as many dear friends.
Services for Duncan will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00am until the funeral hour at 1:00pm. Reverend Jake Ravizee will be officiating. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Harlan Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Duncan Jacobs.
