Eddie "Deano"
Dean Sparkman
Jan 23, 1958 — Mar 15, 2023
Cumberland
Eddie Dean "Deano" Sparkman, age 65, of Cumberland, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Tri-Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cumberland following a courageous battle with cancer.
Deano was born in Lynch, KY, on January 23, 1958, to Ed and LaDona Holbrook Sparkman. He graduated from Cumberland High School then immediately began working with his father as a rock truck driver. One of his first jobs was working on the Harlan bypass, transporting dirt, as the road was being constructed. Deano then began working at Blair's Garage as a mechanic. He was a gifted automotive service technician working at Blair's for many years. He could fix any problem on any vehicle at any given time and knew everything there was to know about a car.
After meeting the love of his life, Laketa Sturgill, in 1998, the two married in 2000. That love produced a daughter, Marleana.
Deano was a true outdoorsman and thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler. He also loved building scale model cars and was meticulous with each detail. He was a caring, loving guy who was known for his big heart. He was good to everyone he knew and made friends wherever he went.
Deano is preceded in death by his father, Ed Sparkman; a granddaughter, Emily Rose Fultz; a sister, Mable Cain; and a brother-in-law, Ricky Gibbs.
Left to cherish Deano's memory is his wife of 23 years, Laketa Sparkman of Cumberland, KY; his daughter, Marleana Sparkman of Cawood, KY; his mother, LaDona Holbrook Sparkman of Partridge, KY; three sisters: Barbara Gibbs of TN, Banita Creech and husband, Greg, of Partridge, KY, and Kimberly Smith and fiancé, Jeff Housley, of TN; three grandchildren: Bentley, Gordon, and Gracelynn Fultz of Cawood, KY; several nieces and nephews; a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation for Deano will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Tri City Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place Sunday, March 19, at 2:00 at the funeral home with Reverend Greg Creech officiating. Deano will be laid to rest at the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
