Elisha Smallwood, Jr., 72, of Lafollette, TN, formerly of Harlan County, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his residence following a long illness. He was born on April 15, 1953 in Bell County. Elisha was a retired coal miner having worked at Mountain Spur Coal's and Energy, Harlan, KY- Virginia Coal Inc., Kentucky Laurel Mining, West Creek Coal Company, Jericol Mining, Bob and Tom Coal, Croley Coal, Dixie Fuel and T&M Coal Company. He was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Patricia Slusher Smallwood; his father, Elisha Smallwood, Sr.; four brothers, Jack Smallwood, Tony Smallwood, Hillary Buddy Smallwood and Billy Ray Smallwood; and one sister, Wilma Jean Smallwood.

Elisha is survived by his mother, Virgie Patterson Smallwood, Lafollette, TN; four children, Regina Ealy, Middlesboro, KY; Elisha Smallwood III, and wife, Christa, Wallins; Amy Smallwood, Middlesboro, KY; and David Smallwood, Middlesboro, KY; four sisters, Vicky King, Alice Marie England, Nadine Saylor and Kathy Smallwood; and two brothers, Floyd Smallwood and Ross Smallwood and wife, Ginger; and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Elisha Smallwood 4th, Brittany Smallwood Whitehead and husband, Brandon, Nicholas Smallwood, Natasha, Megan and Timothy; and four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Braeleigh, Elisha 5th; and Ryleigh; his special little peanut, Isaiah Hurst; and his special buddy, Zachary Hurst.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, April16, 2026, in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 12 noon with the Reverend James Earl Hensley officiating.

Burial will be in the Harlan County Memorial Gardens on Lay Hill with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
