Elmer Lee Jones, 74, of Evarts, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the St Jospeh Hospital in Lexington following a long illness. Born April 27, 1952 in Harlan, he had lived here all of his life. Elmer worked as a coal miner for Manalapan Mining before retiring. He enjoyed watching UK Basketball and westerns, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Elmer was a member of the Turner Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years, and was very honored to have been chosen to do so.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, Ed Jones and Lois B. Jackson Jones; a son, Keith Jones; and a granddaughter, Cherish Grace Madden.

Survivors include his wife, Dana Marks Jones, Evarts; a daughter, Kristie Mackowiak and husband, Ross, Evarts; two grandsons, Jackson and Jonathan Mackowiak; and a host of other family and friends, including his church family.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 1 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Kirby and Pastor Danny McCreary officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Jared Long, Ricky Harrsion, Robbie Middleton, Ross Mackowiak, Jackson Mackowiak and Eddie Jones serving as pallbearers.
