Elmer Napier, 77, of Dizney departed this life on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born April 3, 1946 in Verda, he had lived here most of his life. Elmer worked as a maintenance worker for a race track before retiring. He believed in the Holiness faith.
Elmer is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Hollins Napier; his parents, McKinley Napier and Ida Mae Osborne Napier; two brothers, Rick Napier and Otis Napier; and four sisters, Loretta Napier, Lucille Holman, Charlene Pruitt and Viola Smith.
Survivors include three brothers, Michael Napier, New Tazewell, TN; Darrell Phillips and Donnie Phillips, both of Harlan; three sisters, Vickie Farley, River Ridge; and Bonnie Phillips and Cathy Hall, both of Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, including a special niece, Robin Napier, Georgia; and a special cousin who helped care for him, Clayton Napier and wife, Easter, Dizney.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 2 pm at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Reverend Darrell Turner officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
