Elsie Lucille Hamby, 79, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, formerly of Partridge, KY, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, following a brief illness.

Elsie was born on March 1, 1945, in Hiram, KY – the sixth child of Fred and Ethel (Lewis) Cornett, who preceded her in death. She married Bill L. Hamby, Sr. in 1965 and they were married for 44 years until his death in 2010. Also preceding her in death were four of her siblings: two sisters, Mattie Elizabeth Cornett and Loretta Sue Cornett and two brothers, Robert Cornett and Bill Cornett.

Elsie is survived by her brother, Roland "Peewee" Cornett (Lyna); her children: Bill Hamby (Marsha), Deedee Rice (Eddie), Pam Rogers (Randy), and James Hamby (Christine); her beloved grandchildren: Bridget Catron (Blaine), Chrissy Adams (Terry), Brendan Rice, Jesse Hamby (Hailee), Delaney Kelm (Brandon), Quinlan Rice, Ethan Napier, and Alton Hamby; and perhaps her greatest joys…her great-grandchildren: Talon Catron, Benjamin Catron, Levi Patterson, Noah Patterson, Jaxxon Adams, Peyton Adams, Wes Adams, Alley Adams, and Destiny Kelm; a host of very loved nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. She also leaves behind her little dog and best companion, Blue.

Elsie loved her family and friends, all things Elvis, and especially Christmas – the lights, the decorations, the food, but most of all gathering with family and friends to celebrate the birth of the Savior. One of her greatest loves was the mountains she called 'home' and home ran deep in her heart and soul. She was a woman of great strength with a sense of humor like no other. Laughter truly was her best medicine.

Elsie was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Nicholasville, KY, where she met a wonderful circle of women who loved on her and whom she cherished. She became a woman of great faith and she made her love for Jesus known.

Services for Elsie will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:30 with funeral service beginning at 1:30. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Lewis Cemetery, Hiram, KY.

Because of her great love of Christmas, please feel free to dress in Christmas colors in her honor. She would want her family and friends to celebrate the season just as she would have.
