In the early morning of September 20, 2026, with his family by his side, Ernest Cox , of Evarts, entered the portals of Heaven to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. 53 years ago, he made a decision to follow Jesus. The last 25 years of his life, he was the founding Pastor of the Christian Fellowship Church. He ran his race with unwavering faith, strength and praise for his Savior until his last breath.

Ernest was 83 years old, born on February 19, 1943. He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Jones, brother Larry Jones and baby daughter Beverly Cox Whitman.

Ernest loved his family very much. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 62 years, Frances Jenkins Cox.  During Ernest's illness he never complained or acted defeated. As he battled with perseverance, and courage, he never failed to encourage others and share the gospel of Jesus. He often said his favorite day of the week was Sunday because he loved going to the Lords house. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and reading his Bible. His love for the Lord, love for his family, church and friends made him the man we all loved and adored.
