Evelyn Gale West Shepherd, 89 of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Evansville, IN on June 13, 1936 to the late Alman Owen West and Dixie Greene West, being the youngest of eight children. She was a proud mother of ten children and her greatest wish was that her children be saved and find the Lord. Her first love was her children, her second love was her church, the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church, but most of all she loved God. Gale spent her later years socializing with friends, gardening, and reading books.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Shepherd; three children, Audi Keith Shepherd, Donald Barry Shepherd, Melissa Jo Blanton; and all seven siblings, Charles West, Ray West, Joann Carter, Dale West, Bobby West, Skipper Greene, and Connie Sue Green.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Sherry Gale Day and husband, Eddie Wayne, of London; Marvin Dewayne Shepherd and wife, Rhonda, of Sharps Chapel, TN; Timothy Owen Shepherd and wife, Loretta, of Cumberland; Patricia Suzanne Coots and husband, Larry, of LaFollette, TN; Melody Carol Baker and husband, John, of Cumberland; Jennifer Ann Echeverria and husband, Dr. Jose Echeverria, of Jonesville, VA; Jody Lynn Shepherd of Flat Gap, VA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and special friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her beloved daughter-in-law, Loretta Shepherd, for all of her love, care, and compassion during her last days on earth. Also, a special thank you to her son-in-law, Dr. Jose Echeverria, for being her doctor for the past 25 years.

Visitation will be in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 pm to 8 pm. Her funeral service will be Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 12pm at the Tri City Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Williams officiating. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery in London, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
