Flossie Holmes, 94, of Harlan departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Hospice Center in Lexington.  She was born on June 14, 1931 in Holmes Mill, Kentucky to the late Wiley Holmes and the late Lillie Victoria Short Holmes.  Ms. Holmes had worked as an accountant for 40 years and believed in the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Montanaro; five sisters, Beatrice Holmes, Delenia Witt, Celia Witt, Lana DeRosa and Glenda Woods; and four brothers, Kermit, Edgar, Connard and Wilmer Holmes.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Montanaro, and wife, Sue, Fresno, California; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of other extended family.

Visitation for Ms. Holmes will be held at the Evarts Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11, 2025, beginning at 12 noon until 1 pm followed by her burial at the Short Cemetery in Holmes Mill.
