Floyd A. "Bob" Bruce, Sr., 93, of Verda passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at his home.  He was born on January 9, 1931 in Highsplint, Kentucky, the last surviving child of a family of 10 born to the late William Harley Bruce, Sr. and the late Lola K. Hatfield Bruce.  He retired from the U.S. Air Force after proudly serving his country for 21 years and was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America.  He was also a lifetime member of the NRA, a former member of the Oddfellows, and a Kentucky Colonel.  He dearly loved his daughter, Kim, and his cats.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Floyd A. "Stoney" Bruce, Jr.; his son-in-law, Tim Lefevers; his former wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Fields Bruce; three sisters, Audrey Browning, Mary Sue Robinson and Doris Ann Williams; six brothers, Fred, David, Sam, Jim, William "Tug" and Thomas Bill Bruce; and his best friend, Jack Amburgey.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly L. "Pebbles" Lefevers, Closplint; a step-granddaughter, Chasity Cooper and husband, Rick, East Bernstadt, KY; three step-great-grandchildren, Haley, R.J. and Brylee Cooper; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, including a special friend, Marvin Pace, Lejunior.

His visitation will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Evarts Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 2 pm.  The Reverend Jerry Kirby will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Evarts Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Military rites will be performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
