Freeman
Clark
Sep 10, 1944 — Sep 3, 2026
Molus
Horace Freeman Clark, 81, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted servant of God, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 3, 2026, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on September 10, 1944, in Blackmont, KY, Freeman was the son of George and Nellie Clark. His life's journey was marked by an unwavering faith, a love for his family, and a commitment to serving others.
Freeman grew up in Blackmont and graduated from Bell County High School in 1963. He embarked on a career as an auto mechanic, working at Detroit Diesel before opening his own garage back home, which he operated for nearly fifty years. He used that service station as part of his ministry. He drove a bus for the Bell Co. school district for 32 years and was an avid Bobcat fan. However, his true passion lay in his pastoral duties. Freeman was ordained at the Blackmont Baptist Church in 1982. He was the pastor of the Tugglesville Baptist Church for nine years and the Wallins Baptist Church for almost thirty-five years. His dedication didn't end there, as he later reignited the spirit of the Tugglesville Baptist Church, where he once again led his congregation with love and faith.
Freeman's life was a testament to his deep love for Jesus Christ. He was saved on Oct. 4, 1970, at the Prayer Baptist Church in Michigan. He surrendered entirely to the Lord's will, finding joy and purpose in Bible reading, prayer, and serving his community. He loved to preach God's Word better than anything and wanted to get back so badly. That was his goal and main focus. His happiness was infectious, and his smile reflected the light of Jesus in all he did. Freeman was known for his generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it be with his time, resources, or heartfelt prayers. Many people say things like "Freeman is one of the best men I know!"
His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, as he cherished fishing trips with family and cultivating his yearly garden. Freeman was particularly proud of his white half runner green beans, grown with care and shared with family and friends. He often spoke of the Cumberland River, declaring it his favorite place, far surpassing any vacation spot or beach.
Family was the cornerstone of Freeman's life. He shared sixty-one beautiful years with his beloved wife, Jewel. Together, they raised three children: Rhonda, Myria (Roger), and Darrin (Chasity). Freeman was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren—Brandon, Meagan (Cody), Hailie (Josh), Kimber (Owen), Noah, Jeremiah (Hannah), Hunter (Faith), Hayden (Lilly), Hannah (Chan), and Holden—and nine great-grandchildren—Addison, Maci, Anzlee, Cali, Thomas, Everleigh, Emma, Beckett, and Rayne. His family, whom he affectionately referred to as "his babies," were the joy of his life.
Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nellie Clark, and his siblings Charlene, Myrtle (Jerome), Doyle, John, and Roger. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy, embraced by his surviving family, who will continue to cherish his memory and uphold the values he instilled in them. He is also survived by his brothers and fishing buddies, Theo (Kathy) and Marion (Dorothy), sister-in-law, Shelley, as well as a host of other family members that were all special to him.
A celebration of Freeman's life will take place with visitation on September 6, 2026, from 5 to 8 pm, and funeral service on September 7, 2026, at 1 pm. Graveside service immediately following at the Tackett Hill cemetery. All services will be held at the Blackmont Baptist Church in Hulen, KY, officiated by Rev. David Howard and Rev. Mike Sledge. As a tribute to his generous spirit and love for helping others, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Children's Organization (Lexington, KY), or Tunnel to Towers.
Freeman's family shares his last wish for all to "Keep on keeping on for Jesus!" His vision was for people and churches to praise Jesus with the honor and reverence He deserves. Freeman's life was a testament to this message, and his enduring legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
