Gail Hammonds Saylor, age sixty-eight, of Wallins, KY passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital with loved ones by her side. Gail was born on September 28, 1954 in Harlan County to Earl Hammonds and Willie Lee Noe. She attended Wallins Elementary and James A. Cawood High School. Gail married at a young age and was overjoyed when she had a son. She dearly loved Brad, her only child. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, as well as attending church at the Pentecostal Church of God Advanced in Coldiron, KY until she was physically unable to attend due to her illness. Gail believed in the Pentecostal faith. She raised Chihuahuas for many years and loved her fur-babies more than anything.

Gail is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Willie and John D. Noe; her father, Earl Hammonds; and a brother, James "Jimmy" Cooper.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Brad Howard and wife, Kayla, of Wallins; three grandchildren: KayLynn Annagail, Kimber Erin, Prayleigh Jalissa Howard; the love of her life, Johnny Saylor, and his son, Johnny Ray, Jr (Carrie); three sisters: Debbie Hammonds of Middlesboro, KY; Betty Walker (Donnie Nantz) of Wallins; and Linda Goins and husband, Paul, of Cawood, KY; a sister-in-law, Cathy Cooper; a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation for Ms. Gail Saylor will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 11:00am – 1:00pm in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home with funeral service beginning at 1:00. Reverend Eli Craig and Reverend Spencer Burkhart will be officiating. Ms. Gail will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Ms. Gail's family has requested that all who attend her services please wear a mask.
