Obituary

Ms. Georgia Ann Funk Polson, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Georgia was born on February 2, 1936, in Inman, VA, to Charles Oscar and Stella Vesolosky Funk. She attended Benham High School where she was a majorette for the Benham Tigers marching band. Georgia met Lloyd Polson, Sr. after he returned from Hawaii, where he was stationed while in the U.S. Marine Corp. The two were married in November 1951 and had four children.

Georgia's family was the most important thing in her life. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, working in her flower beds, fishing, and spending as much time with her family as she could. She was amazing in the kitchen and each Thanksgiving and Christmas, Georgia could be found making 15-20 of her famous stack cakes for those who requested them.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, eating pizza and cake. She was a long time, active member at the Cumberland Church of God.

Georgia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd Corbet Polson, Sr.; her parents, Charles and Stella Funk; and six siblings: Betty Grogan, Jimmy, Sonny, David, Jessie, and Dickie Funk.

Left to cherish her memory is Georgia's four children: Lloyd Corbet Polson, Jr., and wife, Joyce, of Totz, KY, Mary Ann Parrott of Cumberland, KY, Michael Wayne Polson, Sr., and wife, Uncha, of Olympia, WA, and Tammy Lloyd and husband, Michael, of Leesburg, FL; four sisters: Edith Hall, Sandra LesPron, Donna Boggs, Linda Boggs; nine grandchildren: Jamie Edridge, Jackie Polson, James Dean Parrott, Jr., Brittany Ford, Michael Wayne Polson, Jr., Angela Saver, Christy Polson, Chad Michael Lloyd, Kyle Arthur Lloyd; eight great-grandchildren: Jacob Polson, Holly Ledbetter, Cassandra Eldridge, Sean Thomas Parrott, Aubree Parrott, Landon Dean Parrott, Sophiana Kilburn, Liam Mark Ford; extended family and many dear friends.
