Glenda Gibbs, age 63 of Partridge, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at her residence after a long illness. She was born March 28, 1960, in Lynch, to the late Albert and Roberta Short Johnson.  Glenda Gibbs was as talented as she was full of love. Glenda was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting nana (the title she relished the most), caring friend, and faithful member of Putney Bible Church. Glenda accepted the Lord as her Savior on May 22, 1995.

Her family and faith were the cornerstones of who she was, but she was a multifaceted talent. Glenda enjoyed being a homemaker and working as a licensed cosmetologist, but her true passions were in her prolific artistic abilities, all of which were self-taught. She loved painting in watercolor, oil, multimedia and acrylic mediums. Glenda was a ceramicist and enjoyed spending hours in her studio painting and firing her works. Glenda was an impressive seamstress, quilter, and leather crafter. Her flower gardens and fruit bushes were a point of pride and will continue to beautify the Gibbs' home. Glenda enjoyed camping and traveling, particularly to the Outer Banks and Chattanooga. Glenda's family and friends mourn her loss deeply but will keep her memory and love alive in one another, and through the beautiful memories she has blessed us with.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Sidney Johnson and Roberta Short Johnson and a brother, Verlie Johnson.

Glenda leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Jerry Gibbs, of Partridge; her children, Heather Yates and husband, Josh, of Benham; Candace Gibson and husband, Bobby, of Corbin; Jerry Lee Gibbs and wife, Anita, of Columbus, OH; her brothers, Sandy Johnson; Dennis Johnson; her sisters, Odessa Marion; Charlotte Lockaby; her grandchildren, Riley and Bristol Yates; Donovan and Jocelyn Gibson; Boston, Audrey, Hudson, Harper and Aspen Gibbs; a great-granddaughter, Kairi Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, June 12, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at Tri City Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 11 AM with brothers Brett Lawson III and Glenn Cornett officiating, Wanda Smith will be reading the eulogy. Interment will follow at the Gibbs family cemetery in Partridge, KY with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
