Mr. Harold J Burkhart, age 84, of Mary Alice, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell, TN.

One of ten children, Harold was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, to Cecil and Rissie (McQueen) Burkhart on March 10, 1940. He grew up in Mary Alice and worked as an electrician for several years before taking a job working in the coal mines. He used his electrical knowledge in his work at the mines before becoming a mine inspector.

Harold enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and tinkering with cars. He was quick with a joke and quick to offer a lending hand to anyone with a need. His favorite place to eat was Rax, which he visited daily, and no doubt had many conversations about his favorite basketball and football teams, the Kentucky Wildcats. Spending time with his family was Harold's favorite thing to do. He believed in the Holiness faith and sang in the choir at the Holiness church in Mary Alice.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents: Cecil and Rissie Burkhart; four sisters: Margaret Jean Jordan, Norma Camden, Terry Burkhart, Ina Thomlinson; two brothers: Kenneth Burkhart, Hobert Burkhart; and a grandson: Harold Benjamin Burkhart.

Those left to cherish his memories include nine children: Harold Waylon (Wade) Burkhart, Charlie Burkhart, Jessie Burkhart, Roger Burkhart, Bobby Burkhart, David Burkhart, Caroline (Michael) Ruszkowski, Gracie (Robert) Adams, LeAnn (Floyd) Vanover; twelve grandchildren: Victoria, Micah, Sarah, Arial, Skyler, Tyler, Hannah, Ethan, Brayden, Gabrielle, David, Jr., Aiden; great-grandchildren: Stiles, Temari, Greyson, Trevor, Trent, Blake, Riley, Kaleb, Ava, Maggie, Devon; two sisters: Kathleen Bargo, Billie Tuttle; one brother: Gary Burkhart; as well as a host of extended relatives and many friends.
