Harry J. Gross, 87, of Loyall departed this life on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home.  Born September 8, 1937 in Jellico, Tennessee, he had lived in Harlan County since 1958.  Mr. Gross retired as a teacher for the Harlan County Board of Education with 38 years of service having taught at Cranks, Hall and then many years as the Homebound Educator.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a proud member of the Yocum Masonic Lodge #897.  For many years he has enjoyed feeding his family and friends fresh produce from his garden.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Jacobs Gross; his parents, W.A. Gross and Roxie York Gross; two sisters, Novella Wilson and an infant sister; and five brothers, Wiley, Ozella, Riley, Jack and Edward John "E.J." Gross.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Gross and wife, Julie, Highland Heights, KY; Glen Edward "Ed" Gross, Winchester, KY; two granddaughters, Olivia Gross Treadway and Emma Gross; and a host of special friends and former students.

His visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Evarts Funeral Home beginning at 11 am with funeral services to follow at 1 pm.  Pastor Danny McCreary will officiate.   Masonic Rites will be performed by Yocum Lodge #897 F & AM.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens.
