Obituary

Ricky Nelson Halcomb, age 64, of Linefork, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Monday, April 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Although his given name was Ricky, he was better known as " Hawkeye " to all who knew and loved him.  Ricky was born in Lynch, KY, on July 25, 1958 to Truman and Honorah Halcomb Cornett. He had seven beloved siblings: five sisters: Angela Elaine, Sheena, Patricia, Kathy, and Lisa; and two brothers: Michael and Otis.

Ricky attended Letcher County Schools. In May of 1978, he married the love of his life, Rita Napier, and the two shared a love and built a life together that lasted almost 45 years.  The Lord blessed their marriage with five children:  Mark Anthony, Bobby O'Neil, Ricky, Anthony, and Belinda. Ricky loved his family more than life.

A self-taught diesel mechanic, Ricky worked at Roxana Transport as a diesel mechanic for thirty-two years before retiring. He could fix just about anything. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at the lake with his family. Ricky enjoyed riding his side-by-side and spending time in the mountains enjoying nature.  If he was home, you could always find him in his garage, tinkering with anything and everything. A long-time faithful member of the Linefork House of Prayer, Ricky loved the Lord and was passionate about spreading the Word of God any opportunity he was given.

Ricky is preceded in death by his sons, Mark and Bobby; his parents, Truman and Honorah; a grandson, Briston O'Neil Halcomb; two sisters, Angela Scott and Sheena Dawson; and one brother, Michael Cornett.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 45 years, Rita Napier Halcomb of Linefork; his three children: Ricky (Michelle) Calton of Mary Alice, Anthony (Terra) Halcomb of Linefork, Belinda (Joe) Morris of Partridge; three sisters: Patricia (Jimmy) Hill of Partridge, Kathy Lawson of Jellico, TN, Lisa (Larry) Hogg of Florence; one brother, Otis (Louise) Halcomb of Totz; thirteen grandchildren: Noya, Justice, Jody, Alex, Faith, Kendra, Allison, Brayden, A.J., Hunter, Layden, Buttons, and Andrew; two great-grandchildren: Connor and Luna; his Linefork House of Prayer family; a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation for Ricky will be held at the Linefork House of Prayer on Wednesday, April 5, beginning at 5:00pm and will last until the funeral hour on Friday, April 7 at 1:00pm.  Ricky's dear friend and pastor, Patrick Shepherd, will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Halcomb Family Cemetery in Linefork. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
