James Edward Short, 65, of Ages went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the Harlan Health and Rehab following a long illness.  James was born on May 8, 1957 and was a lifelong resident of Harlan County.  He was a member of the Ages Church of God where he really enjoyed going to church and listening to Gospel music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Asa Howard Short and Eva Jean Kelly Short; a sister, Sherry Ann Short; two brothers, Hampton Ray Short and Jessie Lee Short; and a brother-in-law, Terry Lee Stacy.

Survivors include three sisters, Sandra Lynn Harrison and husband, Donnie, Ages; Brenda Sue Stacy, Ages; Ada Elizabeth Stacey and husband, Jim, Tazewell, TN; a brother, Asa Short and wife, Sherry, Evarts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, including a special friend and roommate at the nursing home, Gerald Ed Brummett.

His visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 5 until 8 pm at the Ages Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2 pm at the Church with the Reverend Donnie Harrison and the Reverend Jeffery Hatfield officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
