James Oscar Thompson, 80, of Loyall departed this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at his home.  He was born on June 30, 1945 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Beulah Miles Thompson and the late Oscar Thompson.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam. He spent 38 years as an agent for American General Life Insurance and believed in the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Ellis Thompson, and one brother, Benjamin Thompson.

He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Day and husband, Dexter; his son, Brian Thompson and wife, Angela; four grandchildren, Cameron Reynolds, Aidan (Joe) Reynolds, Zoey Thompson, and Amelia (Millie) Thompson; a brother, Troy Thompson and wife, Elaine; as well as a host of other extended family.

As requested, there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tunnels for Towers in his memory.
