Sarah Jane Huff Shell, 98, of Evarts departed this life on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Willow Ridge Center in Maynardville, TN following a brief illness.  Born December 1, 1926 in Bledsoe, she had lived and raised her family in Evarts.  Jane was a very loyal member of the Evarts Church of God where she had attended for 75 years.  During that time she had served as the church clerk, a Sunday School teacher, YPE President, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and a janitor.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hurlan Shell; a son, Paul Ed Shell; a grandson, Jason Paul Fint; her parents, James W. Huff and Elizabeth Napier Huff; five sisters, Goldie Middleton, Martha Middleton, Pauline Muriel, Tressie Boggs and Etta Boggs; and three brothers, Kenneth, William and Richard Huff.

Jane is survived by four children, Wanda Harrod and husband, James; Bonnie Fint and husband, Tommy; and Wilma Shell, all of Frankfort, KY; Joyce Bennett and husband, Frank, New Tazewell, TN; and two sisters, Nancy Belcher and husband, Dexter, Somerset; Dorothy Ward and husband, Bill, West Virginia.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Michael Paul Harrod (Stacy), James Carlos Fint III, Janie Nicole Martin (Matt), John Thomas Fint III (Jessica), Ashley Bennett Miracle (Jason), Kyle Franklin Bennett, and Becky Craycraft; 18 great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Taylor Harrod; Emma, Lucky and Alex Perkins; Hailey and Addison Martin; Mallory and John Thomas Fint; Tyler and Natalie Fint; Braeden and Maxen Bennett; McKinley, Easton and Sawyer Miracle; Dallis and Westlynn Craycraft; and a host of other family and friends.

Her visitation will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon until the funeral service time of 2 pm.  The Reverends Clarence Floyd, Buddy Simpson and Jason Miracle will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Michael Paul Harrod, John Fint, Jimmy Harrod, James Carlos Fint, Matt Martin and Harold Craycraft serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Harrod, Tommy Fint, Frank Bennett, Braeden Bennett, Maxen Bennett, John Thomas Fint, Marvin Baird, Billy Wayne Baird and Jerome Price.
