Janet Marie Turner, age 63, of Harlan, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital, with her family by her side.

Janet was born into a large family of nine children on July 28, 1962, in Harlan, to the late Elder James L. and Clora Clark Turner. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of the Clover Street Church of Christ. She was a twelve-year attendee of the Harlan Independent School system and graduated from Harlan High School in 1980. She enjoyed playing basketball and loved listening to gospel music, singing, attending church, and helping with Bible Club. Her greatest joy was raising and taking care of children. She easily could have worn the badge 'Baby Whisperer' proudly.

Everyone loved being around Jan. She would put a smile on the faces of everyone around her.

In addition to her parents, Jan is preceded in death by four brothers: Michael David Turner, Lonnie R. Turner, James L. Turner, Jr., and Donnie L. Turner; a granddaughter, Royalty Savannah Marie Foster; a brother-in-law, Gerald B. Henry, Jr.; and her dearest and best friend, Eugenia Michelle McCreary.

Those left to cherish her memory include her five children: Chervon Wilson, Devon Foster (April York), Patrick Bynum (Shanae Thomas), Juan Bynum, and Shaquille Bynum; grandchildren: Devonte 'Tay Tay' Jean Dean, Domarion Foster, Ivy Jane Thomas, Braeleigh Alayna Simpson; bonus children: Kelly York, Christine York, Shamichael Underwood, James Noah, Amanda Dean, and Lukaz, Isaiah, Myshya, and Shameka McMillan; and four beloved siblings: Robert Turner (Sandra), Curtis Turner (JoAnn), Terry Turner (Gwen), and Teresa Turner Henry.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Jan's devoted caregivers, Amanda Dean, Alexander Bynum, Shannon Shelton, and Dewey Sizemore.

Jan will truly be missed by all those she loved and by those who loved her.

Visitation will take place on Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Clover Street Church of Christ in Harlan from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Jan's home-going celebration will begin at 1:00pm with Elder Terry L. Turner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
