Jeffery Allen Lucas, 53, of Watts Creek passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital. Born October 30, 1969 in Benham, KY, he worked as a coal miner for 25 years, and believed in the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Joyce Dennison Lucas.

Jeffery is survived by his wife, Scarlett Deanna Smallwood Lucas, Watts Creek; his father, Oscar Lucas, Somerset, KY; three children, Jeffery Allen Lucas, II, Watts Creek; Jacob Bradley Lucas, McCreary County, KY; and Allen Lucas, Watts Creek; one brother, Oscar Lucas, Jr. and wife, Lori, Somerset, KY; and one sister, Debra Lucas Mullins, and husband, Mike, Somerset, KY.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jeffery Allen Lucas, III, Emily Thomas, Gabriel Lucas, Axel Lucas and Allen Lucas; and a host of nieces and nephews and a special brother-in-law, Tim "Tick" Brock, Pikeville, KY.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023, in the chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Farley Cemetery at Watts Creek. Jeffery's sons and friends will be serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with his funeral expenses.
