Obituary

Jimmie Jackson, 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Elcomb surrounded by family and loved ones on February 27, 2026

Jimmie was a native of Harlan and worked for 41 years at Harlan ARH as a surgical technician and CSS technician. Jimmie believed in the Baptist faith and attended the First Baptist Church of Baxter. She was a loving mother, wife, friend, and "Honey" to six beautiful grandchildren. Jimmie loved trips to Myrtle Beach, staying at her "tiny house" in Pigeon Forge, and any excuse to have a party. Most of all, she loved her family and friends.

Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents, Bartley and Bertha (Young) Marlow.

Jimmie is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, O.B. Jackson, Jr.; three daughters: Melissa (Randy) Hornsby of Elcomb, Amanda (Andy) Short of Elcomb, and Loren (George) Durham of Baxter; six grandchildren: Zachary Hornsby and fiancée  Nicole of Knoxville, TN, Caitlyn Hornsby and fiancée Johnathan of Graham, NC, Lacey and Grayson Short of Elcomb, Lillian Durham and fiancée Scott of Goose Creek, SC, and Jacob Durham of Baxter; very special niece and nephew: Stephanie and Jack Miniard of Harlan, and Chuck and Shauntae Abbott of Kingsport, TN; two sisters: Donna (Britt) Lewis and Jeanene (Charlie) Abbott, all of Harlan; as well as a host of special family and friends.

In true "Honey" fashion, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Harlan Center to honor the extraordinary life and memory of Jimmie Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bluegrass Care Navigators or First Baptist Church of Baxter.
