Keith Alan Cooper, 54, of Ages passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital.  Born February 17, 1968 in Pennington Gap, Virginia, he had lived in Harlan County for the past 28 years.  He was a former coal miner and believed in the Baptist faith.  Keith enjoyed doing mechanical work on cars, listening to music and doing carpentry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Burley Cooper and Shirlene Smith Cooper; a sister, Lea Ann Osborne; and a brother, Michael Cooper.

Survivors include three children, Keith Sean Cooper, Harlan; Nina Cooper Lay (Devin), Harlan;  and Jacob Cooper, Kenvir; a granddaughter, Loretta Leanne Lay, Harlan; a sister, Lisa Fathergill, Cumberland; three brothers, Terry Cooper (Barb), Ages; Kevin Cooper, Harlan; William Cooper (Kimberly), Jonesville, VA; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Cooper, Calvin; and a special mother-in-law, Loretta Middleton, Evarts.

His visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Evarts Funeral Home beginning at 1 pm with funeral services to follow at 3 pm.  The Reverend Don Johnson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.
