Kennedy "Kenny" Eugene Holman, 63, of Cawood, formerly of Closplint, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at his home following a short illness. Born May 29, 1961, he had lived in Harlan County most of his life.  Kenny was a former stock clerk at several local grocery stores.  He enjoyed basketball, both watching and playing, and had played at Evarts High School from which he graduated.  He was known for his famous hook shot. Kenny also enjoyed fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Holman and Bessie Wynn Holman; two sisters, Carol Hall and Vivian Barker; and a brother, Doug Barker.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Brenda Brock Holman, Cawood; two children, Geneva Ashlee Lynn Eldridge and husband, Derrick, Cumberland; Kennedy Shawn Douglas Holman and wife, Alexandria, Cawood; a sister, Shannon Holman, Closplint; and two brothers, Richie Holman and wife, Susie, and Michael Holman and wife, Judy, all of Closplint.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, Braylon, Garrett, Gunnar, Kennedy, Jr. and Londynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, including a very special friend, Althene Anderson of Closplint.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 2 PM with the Reverend Mike Blair and Brother John Smith officiating.

Burial will follow the services in the Sam Boggs Cemetery at Closplint with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
